Joey and Blanca
When two amazing people you have known for years tell you they have decided to marry there is an instant rush of happiness and high fives. When those same two people ask you to come to the wedding a smile instantly appears on your face. When they ask you to photograph their wedding, however, is when I get really happy.
Joey and Blanca are two such amazing people.
I was at their apartment in 2010, about to enjoy Joey’s incredibly tasty BBQ’ing, when he asked if I was interested in photographing the wedding. “Yes, of course!” was my instinctive reaction. Joey paused for a moment, “It’s going to be in Cabo.” A smile widened across my face and I gave him a high five: “Awesome.”
I had never been south of Tijuana and I love to travel so I was ecstatic when we landed north of Cabo San Lucas. It was hot, humid, and extremely exciting to be in Mexico (even if Cabo really is just a big tourist destination and not the real Mexico). The sand on the beach was a scorching 105F and after only a couple of minutes it became clear the sandals I brought were being of no help at all against the heat.
The ceremony was small, simple, and elegant (and cheered on by a chorus of 30 people watching from the edge of an infinity pool nearby).
A destination wedding with forty two guests. That statistic alone speaks volumes of how awesome Joey and Blanca are, have been, and will continue to be as their lives grow from this moment forward. Congratulations!
